How Cold Will My Spot Cooler Get?

Good question.  And one we receive often!  The only honest answer to the question, "How cold will my spot cooler get" is it depends

An air conditioner is typically capable of delivering a 20 degree Fahrenheit temperature differential, or Delta T, as HVAC folks would say.

What we've found over the years is that when clients ask, "How cold will my spot cooler get" what they really want to know is how cold their SPACE will get, not the spot cooler!

It doesn't matter if you are cooling a server room or a special event tent, all air conditioners work pretty much the same.  Oh there are different configurations and methods but all air conditioners perform the same primary function -- cool and dehumidify the air.  Check out this overview article on the basic types of air conditioners

So when you need to add more cooling to your space, instead of asking...

"How cold will my spot cooler get?"

You want to ask

"How much cooling does my space require?"

Now, you're going to love this answer.... it depends... on what's in the space you are trying to cool!  You'll need much more cooling for a 10' x 10' room with racks of servers than a room with 2 workstations.
