Hosting Healthy Events During Cold and Flu Season

Find me on:

From October to the end of the year, there are usually lots of social events. School is in session, there are many different holiday parties between Halloween and the New Year, and families gather for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is such an exciting season but it's also cold and flu season. Coworkers, friends, and family aren't the only ones in attendance at holiday gatherings. Germs are, too. Here's 5 ways to host healthy events this holiday season.

AIRPURE1. If you feel sick, stay home.

We know it might not be fun to miss out on a holiday party and you might just think it's a little cold, nothing serious. However, that cold can be a big deal for older people and can develop into something more serious. FOMO is real and we get it, but resting and keeping your germs to yourself is the best thing to do in this situation.

2. Encourage healthy hand hygiene.

Make sure your bathrooms are stocked with hand soap and add a few sanitizer stations around your get-together. Three location suggestions for sanitizer are one by the door, one by the food and drinks, and one in the main party space. If you make it easy for your guests to practice good hand hygiene they will be more likely to sanitize throughout the event.

3. Boost your immune system.

Prevention is best when it comes to illnesses. During this season, make sure you are getting important vitamins that will help boost your immune system. We can all use some extra defense when it comes to colds, the flu, and other seasonal illnesses. Getting enough vitamin C, taking a zinc supplement, eating a balanced diet, exercising, staying hydrated, and getting plenty of sleep are all things you can do to prevent getting sick. Plus, we're just big fans of self-care.

4. Serve individual foods and drinks.

You take what you touch! Bite-sized foods that are easy to serve are the best when trying to keep germs at a minimum at a party. Instead of serving a big mixed drink in a large punchbowl, opt for individual canned or bottled drinks. If you want to provide a pre-mixed drink, serve it in a beverage dispenser so there's less chance of contamination.

5. Rent AirPac's Air Purifiers for your event.

Our AirPure series filters out harmful products from the air like pollen, dust, mold, bacteria, dust mites, common smoke, lead dust, pet dander, asbestos, paint pigment, insecticide, anthrax, carbon dust, and viruses. The multiple filter layers capture 99.9% of particles down to 0.1 microns. They are available in two sizes and can easily accommodate any event layout or configuration.

We hope you have a safe, healthy, and fun holiday season and found some of these tips useful. Contact us to chat about our air purifier rentals or heater rentals. We would love to help you host the best holiday party!
