The Presidential Inauguration is probably, without a doubt, one of the largest public events held. Anywhere. Ever! And since it's the third week of January in Washington, DC, you can bet the weather is almost always cold. Sometimes frigid and freezing would be better adjectives to describe the sub zero temps many attendees endure for hours on end watching the parade the ceremony or attending one of the many outdoor events.
Although the Presidential Inauguration is an EVENT it is actually made up of hundreds of smaller events and venues that together, create the experience of the Inauguration. Many events are "official" events but as you can imagine, there are hundreds of supporting agencies and companies that all want in on the fun. It's kind of like the Super Bowl or Mardi Gras -- there are events just to celebrate the BIG EVENT.
There are several different types of rental heaters that can be used to heat outdoor events but the best heater for large, public events is the portable electric heater.
Portable electric heaters were used at many different venues during the Presidential Inauguration:
-
To heat emergency medical tents set up throughout the National Mall and staffed by emergency responders.
-
Provide warmth for key viewing areas along the parade route.
-
Private corporate parties hosted on tented roof-top terraces.
With all the planning that goes into huge events like the Presidential Inauguration, it's a good thing it only comes along every four years! Check out this quick video to see what happens behind the scenes at the Inauguration.
